Merchant terms

How money moves: what we charge, when you get paid, and who carries a dispute.

Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer. Written to common practice for a hosted commerce platform and accurate about how Stashed actually works, but it should be reviewed before it is relied on.

01

What we charge

Two amounts, plus one that is not ours:

  • A subscription fee, billed in advance for the period you choose.
  • A platform fee, calculated as a percentage of the sale value and taken as each sale settles.
  • Payment processing fees, charged by the payment provider at their published rates. These are theirs; we do not add to them.

Current amounts are on the pricing page and in your dashboard. Nothing else is charged without being shown to you first.

02

Getting paid

Payments from your customers are processed by our payment provider and settled to the account you connect. We are not a party to the payment and do not hold your funds on your behalf.

Payout timing is set by the payment provider and depends on your account, your country and your history. New accounts are commonly subject to a longer initial hold; that is the provider’s risk decision, not ours.

You are responsible for keeping your payout details accurate and for satisfying the provider’s identity verification. Payouts stop until verification is complete.

03

Cryptocurrency payments

Where you enable cryptocurrency checkout, funds move directly from your customer to the wallet address you nominate. We do not custody them, cannot reverse the transaction, and cannot recover funds sent to an address entered incorrectly.

You are responsible for the tax treatment and the accounting of those payments, and for any exchange or conversion you choose to do afterwards.

04

Refunds you give

Refunds to your customers are yours to decide, subject to your own policy and to the consumer law that applies to your sales. You issue them from your dashboard.

When you refund a sale, the platform fee on it is returned to you. Payment processing fees are generally not returned by the provider — that is their policy and it applies to us as well.

05

Chargebacks and disputes

A chargeback is a customer asking their bank to reverse a payment. When one is raised on your sale, the amount and any dispute fee are debited from your balance while it is investigated.

You are responsible for responding with evidence. We surface the dispute in your dashboard and pass your evidence to the provider, but the outcome is decided by the card scheme, not by us.

Persistent high chargeback rates put your payment processing at risk. The provider may restrict or terminate processing, and we may suspend the shop if it continues.

06

When funds are held

Funds may be held where there is a reasonable suspicion of fraud, a spike in disputes, a breach of the acceptable use policy, or a legal requirement to do so. We will tell you why and what we need in order to release them, unless we are prohibited from doing so.

07

Tax

You are responsible for determining, collecting and remitting any tax on your sales, including GST, VAT and sales tax as applicable. Stashed provides tools to configure tax but does not file or remit on your behalf, and nothing on the platform is tax advice.

Stashed is built by Akashi Labs on the same infrastructure as Exclusivo, which does the digital-collectibles side of things. You never need it to run a shop — but if you ever want to sell something that lives on a blockchain, it is already there and already connected.
